Teltonika OXA EBG140 4G Gateway
The Teltonika EBG140 (EBG140AAAA00), marketed as the Oxa, is a compact embedded 4G LTE Cat 4 gateway for OEM and industrial integration. It gives device manufacturers a way to build reliable cellular connectivity into their own equipment through a single Gigabit Ethernet port, without module-level development or a separate boxed gateway. Bridge and mobile IP passthrough modes hand the mobile connection straight to the host device. The EBG140 runs RutOS, the same OpenWrt-based operating system used across the Teltonika range, and it is compatible with Teltonika RMS for remote monitoring, configuration, and firmware updates over the air.
Key features
- 4G LTE Cat 4: up to 150 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload, with automatic fallback to 3G and 2G.
- EMEA band support: LTE FDD B1, B3, B7, B8, B20, B28 and TDD B38, B40, B41, plus 3G and 2G.
- Single Mini SIM (2FF): auto APN, band lock, operator allow/block list, and SIM PIN management.

- Digital I/O: 1 x digital input and 1 x digital output on the 4-pin power connector, with I/O Juggler event automation.
- RutOS VPN suite: OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, ZeroTier, GRE, L2TP, DMVPN, SSTP, Stunnel, and Tinc.
- Industrial protocols: Modbus TCP, OPC UA, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM, BACnet/IP, and Data to Server over HTTP(S) and MQTT.
- Teltonika RMS: remote monitoring, configuration management, alerts, and FOTA across a fleet from one platform.
- Open-board design: ARM Cortex-A7 1.3 GHz, 128 MB RAM, 512 MB flash, 70 x 18.2 x 67.7 mm, 36 g, -40 to +75 degrees C.
What is the EBG140 used for?
OEM equipment and machine integration
The EBG140 is aimed at manufacturers who need to add cellular connectivity to their own products. It embeds into host equipment so a machine, panel, or controller ships with 4G and RMS remote management built in. Bridge and passthrough modes pass the mobile connection directly to the host device over the single Ethernet port. This avoids integrating a raw cellular module and avoids fitting a separate boxed gateway alongside the equipment.
Industrial automation and SCADA telemetry
With Modbus TCP, OPC UA, and DNP3 support, the EBG140 connects PLCs, RTUs, and field controllers to a central SCADA or historian over cellular. Data to Server pushes readings to an endpoint on a schedule or on change, over HTTP(S) or MQTT. This suits remote plant, pumping stations, and distributed control where a fixed line is not practical.
Smart metering and utilities
DLMS/COSEM client support makes the EBG140 a fit for utility meter data collection. It reads meter data over cellular and forwards it to a head-end system. Combined with RMS for fleet visibility and FOTA, it keeps a distributed metering estate current without site visits.
Building and energy management
BACnet/IP support connects building management systems and energy controllers over cellular where wired backhaul is not available. The EBG140 acts as the managed cellular link for HVAC, metering, and plant control in remote or unmanned sites. RMS gives central oversight of connection state and uptime.
Pro tip
The EBG140 accepts passive Power over Ethernet on LAN1, but this is Mode B passive PoE at 9-30 V DC, not standard active PoE. Do not connect an 802.3af, 802.3at, or 802.3bt switch or injector. Those run at 48 V and will damage the unit. Use a matched passive PoE injector at 12 V or 24 V, or power the gateway through its 4-pin DC socket. This is the most common installation mistake on passive PoE Teltonika hardware, so confirm the injector before you energise the link.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Teltonika EBG140 (Oxa)?
The EBG140 is a compact embedded 4G LTE Cat 4 IoT gateway for OEM and industrial integration. It runs RutOS and is built to add cellular connectivity to host equipment rather than being used as a standalone boxed unit. It is compatible with Teltonika RMS for remote management.
What is included with the EBG140, and what do I need to add?
The standard package (order code EBG140AAAA00) contains the EBG140 board and a quick start guide. It does not include a PSU or an antenna. You supply 9-30 V DC power through the 4-pin socket or passive PoE, and an SMA mobile antenna. Plan clearance inside the host enclosure. With a stub antenna fitted, the assembly stands around 173 mm tall, so use a cabled antenna where height is limited.
Does the EBG140 support dual SIM or eSIM?
No. The EBG140 has a single Mini SIM slot (2FF). It does not have a second SIM or an eSIM. Network resilience is handled through RutOS backup and failover across mobile, wired, and VRRP options rather than dual-SIM switching. For remote management and inbound VPN access, we recommend a fixed IP SIM, because a standard SIM sits behind carrier-grade NAT that blocks inbound connections.
Does the EBG140 support Teltonika RMS?
Yes. The EBG140 is RMS compatible, so you can monitor connection status, push configuration, manage firmware over the air, and set up remote access from the RMS platform. RMS works across the wider Teltonika range, so a mixed fleet sits in one place. Read more in our guide to Teltonika RMS.
Can I power the EBG140 over PoE?
Yes, but only passive PoE. The EBG140 accepts passive PoE on LAN1 in Mode B at 9-30 V DC. It is not compatible with 802.3af, 802.3at, or 802.3bt active PoE. Connecting a 48 V active PoE switch or injector will damage the unit. Use a matched passive injector or the 4-pin DC socket instead.
What industrial protocols does the EBG140 support?
The EBG140 supports Modbus TCP (client and server), OPC UA (client and server), DNP3 (station and outstation), DLMS/COSEM (client), and BACnet/IP. Data to Server forwards parameters to an endpoint over HTTP(S) or MQTT, and a Modbus MQTT Gateway bridges Modbus data to an MQTT broker. This covers most industrial, utility, and building automation integrations.
